Composted Horse Manure – Weed Free, Well Rotted & Ready to Use

Our composted horse manure is a high organic matter soil improver suitable for vegetable gardens, rose beds, clay soil improvement and general soil conditioning. Fully rotted and weed free, it is available in 40 litre bags, bulk bags and jumbo bags for delivery across the UK.

Improve poor soil naturally and boost plant growth fast with our premium composted horse manure. Carefully sourced from racing stables using 100% shavings bedding, then composted at high temperatures to eliminate weed seeds and pathogens, this manure is safe, stable and ready to use straight away.

Ideal for improving heavy clay, enriching sandy soils and revitalising tired garden beds, composted horse manure adds valuable organic matter that improves structure, drainage and nutrient retention.

Why Choose Our Composted Horse Manure?

  • ✔ Fully composted and safe to use immediately
  • ✔ Weed seed free (high temperature composted)
  • ✔ Dark, crumbly and easy to spread
  • ✔ Improves soil structure and drainage
  • ✔ Increases moisture retention in dry soils
  • ✔ Ideal for roses, vegetable beds and borders
  • ✔ Peat free and environmentally friendly

What Is Composted Horse Manure Best Used For?

Vegetable Beds: Improves soil fertility and boosts crop yields.

Rose Beds & Borders: Excellent organic conditioner for strong root growth.

Clay Soils: Helps break up compaction and improves drainage.

Sandy Soils: Increases moisture and nutrient retention.

No Dig Gardening: Ideal as a winter mulch layer.

Does It Smell?

No. Our horse manure is fully composted and matured before dispatch. It has a mild earthy smell similar to woodland soil — not fresh manure.

How Much Should I Use?

As a soil improver, apply a 2–5cm layer and dig into the top 15–20cm of soil.

As a mulch, apply 5–7cm around plants, avoiding direct contact with stems.

Horse Manure vs Farmyard Manure – What’s the Difference?

Composted Horse Manure is lighter, more fibrous and excellent for improving soil structure.

Farmyard Manure is richer and stronger, ideal for heavy feeding crops.

If you're improving general garden soil, raised beds or roses, horse manure is often the best choice.
